James Fletcher anchors the KRON4 Morning News from 4am – 8am and then reports from the newsroom until 10am. He came to KRON4 in January 2002 as a freelance writer and quickly moved up the ranks. As a full-time producer, James managed a number of newscasts including the KRON4 Morning News and KRON4 News Weekend.
James also helped produce the live broadcasts of such high-profile programs as “Bay to Breakers”, “The S.F. Pride Parade” and “Carnaval San Francisco Parade.” Most recently, James served as a weathercaster on the KRON4 Morning News.
Prior to joining KRON4, James was the main evening anchor for the NBC station in Chico (KNVN-TV). During his time there he also served as morning anchor, weathercaster and occasional host of “North Valley Viewpoints” – a weekly roundtable discussion of local issues.
James came to California from the Pacific Northwest where he anchored news updates for a local cable company in Moscow, ID. Before that, he lived in Maryland where he hosted two Public Television programs, “Performance Profiles” and “Backstage News” – both highlighting local performers and artists.
James has worked in television since 1993 and says the Bay Area is by far his favorite part of the country to live. “I have spent time in Hawaii, Maryland and the Pacific Northwest. Everything I loved about all those places I have found here. I hope everyone realizes what a special place this is.”
James graduated from the Edward R. Murrow College of Broadcasting at Washington State University. He enjoys traveling, dining, theater, a good book and great television.
He lives in the East Bay with his wife and two children.
