SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — You may have heard the final cries of “Timmy! Timmy!” at AT&T Park.
Several sources are reporting San Francisco Giants free agent pitcher Tim Lincecum has told the team he wants to test the free agent market.
The reports indicate the Giants have tried to start negotiations with Timmy about a contract extension. Instead Lincecum’s agents say they want to find out how much interest there is in signing the former two-time Cy Young award winner.
During the 2008 and 2009 seasons Lincecum had an ERA under three. This past season he went 10-14 with a 4.37 ERA over 32 starts.
If Lincecum does draw interest as a free agent, the Giants are likely to make him a qualifying offer meaning San Francisco would get draft picks in compensation for a signing.
