SAN JOSE — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating an at-risk 81-year-old man who walked away from a convalescent home in San Jose on Monday afternoon.
San Jose resident Thomas Dottore walked away from a convalescent home located at 2065 Forest Ave. near Bellerose Drive at about 3:10 p.m. and was reported missing about two and a half hours later, police said.
Police said Thomas has a bald head, white skin, weighs 135 pounds and stands 5 feet 7 inches tall.
He was last seen wearing a light blue jacket and a medical identification bracelet, according to police.
Thomas is considered at-risk because he has a history of muscle weakness and requires daily insulin injections, according to police.
Police said he walks with a limp and sometimes uses a wheelchair.
While Thomas knows his name, police said he does not know where he lives.
Officers said Thomas does not have any cash with him and does not know how to take public transportation. Police said he tends to become confused and disoriented.
San Jose police conducted a search of the area where Thomas was last seen and have alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies and the Valley Transportation Agency to be on the lookout for him.
Anyone with information about Thomas or his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or Detective Melo in the San Jose Police Department’s Missing Person’s Unit.
