SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Giants may soon be thankful to have pitcher Ryan Vogelsong back on the roster.
MLB.com is reporting the Giants are close to signing the hurler to a one-year contract. The value may actually be larger than the $6.5 million contract option the team declined earlier in November.
His agents are looking for a contract for Vogelsong including salary and incentives reaching up to $8 million.
The pitcher had a 4-6 record with a 5.73 ERA in 19 starts in 2013. Still he was a big part of the team’s Championship run the previous season.
He was a member of the 2011 All-Star team.
Philadelphia, Atlanta, and the Texas Rangers have all reportedly expressed an interest in Vogelson but he has repeatedly said in public that he would prefer to remain a Giant.
