SANTA CLARITA (KRON) — Paul Walker, the star of “The Fast and the Furious” series of movies, is dead at the age of 40, his agent and multiple news outlets report.
Walker was reportedly one of two people killed in a single vehicle accident involving a Porsche in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. Witnesses report the vehicle went out of control and hit a tree Saturday afternoon.

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide,” said a statement on Walker’s official Facebook page. ” He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. ”
Walker first broke out in Hollywood in 1998 with the film Varsity Blues. He is best known for playing the character Brian O’Connor in the series of movies based on “The Fast the Furious.”
The actor reportedly lived in Santa Barbara. He leaves behind a teenage daughter.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
