HAYWARD (BCN) — Hayward police said it doesn’t appear that foul play was involved in the death of a 56-year-old transient man who was found unresponsive in a friend’s front yard early Christmas morning.
The friend found the man on a couch in the front yard of his home in the 2400 block of Silva Avenue early Wednesday morning and took him to a hospital, where officials called police at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Eric Melendez said.
Hospital officials pronounced the man dead, according to Melendez.
The Alameda County coroner’s bureau conducted an autopsy on the man today but there were no signs of trauma and no indication that foul play was involved, Melendez said.
Coroner’s investigators will now conduct additional tests to try to determine his cause of death, Melendez said.
He said police have had contact with the man in the past.
Authorities aren’t yet releasing his name, Melendez said.
