Vigil and Funeral Services Set for Cal Football Player Ted Agu

BAKERSFIELD (KRON) — Funeral services are set for a week from Friday for U.C. Berkeley football player Ted Agu.

The 21-year old student collapsed while exercising with the team last Friday.

Agu will be laid to rest Friday, February 21st after services at St. Philips Catholic Church in Bakersfield. A candlelight vigil for Agu is set for Wednesday evening on Lisa and Douglas Goldman Plaza adjacent to the UC Berkeley Memorial Stadium.

Members of Agu’s Omega Psi Phi fraternity and other Golden Bear student-athletes are conducting the vigil. Doctors are still trying to determine how Agu died. He collapsed during a training session Friday monitors by university trainers. He later died at the hospital.

Agu was a defensive lineman for the Golden Bears.
