OAKLAND (KRON) — The driver of a stolen Uhaul pickup truck faces felony charges when he gets out of the hospital after a high speed crash Thursday morning in Oakland.
Police say the rental truck was reported stolen out of Vallejo. Patrol officers say they were not chasing the vehicle so they’re not sure why it was traveling down 14th Avenue early Thursday morning at more than 90 miles per hour.

Witnesses say the truck appeared to go out of control and slammed into four parked cars. All four vehicles are now totaled.
Investigators say after hitting the cars, the UHaul truck tipped onto its side and then hit an electric power pole. That knocked out electricity to people nearby.
When officers arrived they say they found the driver out of the truck and sitting on a love seat at the intersection. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The man has not been identified but police say he is from Vallejo. He will likely face felony charges including auto theft and reckless driving when he’s released from the hospital.
