ALAMEDA (KRON) — The Oakland Raiders are said to be among the top contenders to sign controversial quarterback Michael Vick now that the Philadelphia Eagles have announced they will not be bringing Vick back.
Vick missed much of last year’s regular season with an injury while backup Nick Foles led the team to the playoffs.
Vick spent five years in Philadelphia after his release from federal prison for his role in financing an illegal dog fighting ring. Animal advocates have remained sharply critical of the quarterback since his conviction.
The Raiders tested several quarterbacks in 2013 including Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin. Oakland signed former Stanford star Trent Edwards as a free agent earlier this year.
