SAN MATEO (KRON) — A 41-year old San Mateo man is in custody after social media tips led to his identification as the man who solicited a teenager for sex.
Police say they posted a photograph of the man who approached the 15-year old victim on North Claremont Street on February 18th and propositioned her in Spanish. The girl ran away and was not hurt. The photograph came from surveillance video taken at a nearby store.

After the picture appeared on Facebook, police say two other victims, both 12-year old girls, came forward to say the same man had done the same thing to them. Investigators say they then identified the man as Roberto “Guadalupe” Micalax.
Police say Micalax turned himself in on Wednesday of this week. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges including Child Annoyance, Solicitation for Sex in Public, and Assault with the Intent to Commit a Sex Crime.
