DEADLY BUS CRASH: The Main Priority is Identifying Those Killed in Horrific Bus Crash

ORLAND — Officials shared heartfelt sympathies following a horrific crash that left 10 dead in northern California.

The crash happened April 9 on Interstate 5 near Orland.

Initial reports suggest a Fedex truck crossed a grass median and slammed into the charter bus causing a massive explosion.

The bus carrying 52 passengers, including high school students from southern California, was on its way to Humboldt State for a university tour.

Officials say both of the Fedex drivers, two adult chaperones, and five students were killed in the crash.

Glenn County Sheriff, Larry Jones, says the main and most difficult task now is to identify the deceased and notify the immediate next of kin.

A difficult task due to the severity of burns on the bodies.

The Los Angeles Unified School District says it will offer grief counseling and crisis support to the 16 schools affected by this tragedy.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
