FREMONT — The Alameda County sheriff’s bomb squad has determined that a suspicious object found near a bus stop in Fremont this morning was harmless,
A caller reported the suspicious object near a bus stop on Thornton Avenue between Blacow Road and Dusterberry Way at 9:02 a.m., according to Fremont police.
Officers closed that section of Thornton Avenue and advised drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area.
Although bomb squad personnel determined that the suspicious item was not an explosive device, they don’t yet have a definitive determination of what it is and described it as a black canister with multiple wires and parts protruding, police said.
