SAN JOSE (KRON) — Alum Rock park remains closed for the day Thursday because of fire danger concerns in the popular destination.
City officials put up signs warning people to stay out, not just those driving to the park but also bicyclists and even hikers.
KRON 4’s Will Tran talked with a number of residents of the neighborhood surrounding the park. Nearly all of them support the closure saying the effects of a major wildfire in Alum Rock park would be devastating.
One cyclist says he’s seen people cooking barbecue and smoking cigarettes in the park despite the intense heat and California’s ongoing drought conditions.
