SANTA ANA (AP) – Los Angeles County prosecutors say there’s not enough evidence to support a domestic violence charge against a California man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter a decade ago.
Isidro Garcia still faces five felony counts, including kidnapping, forcible rape and lewd acts with a minor for the alleged 2004 abduction.
But Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said Thursday that it’s declining to file the domestic violence charge against Garcia for an incident Saturday in Bell Gardens.
Garcia’s wife reported the incident to police Monday, and that’s when Bell Gardens police realized her connection to a missing-persons case from 2004 in Santa Ana.
Bell Gardens referred the case to the city of Santa Ana, where the alleged kidnapping happened a decade ago.
