Oakland Hospital Reopens after “Criminal Threat”

OAKLAND (KRON) — Kaiser Oakland Hospital has reopened to the public after a “specific and credible criminal threat” was made against the facility.

Police haven’t revealed the nature of the threat yet. Advisories went out to members and employees early Tuesday morning to delay their arrivals until later in the day.

Police shut down the Specialty Medical Office Building at 3600 Broadway and the Broadway Medical Office Building at 3701 Broadway. The threat impacted “medical offices, clinics, laboratories, and pharmacies” in these two buildings. The parking garages adjacent to these two buildings were also closed.

Police say officers started monitoring activity outside the hospital buildings on Broadway starting Monday night.
