SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Colin Kaepernick appears to be staying with the San Francisco 49ers through the year 2020.
NFL.com is reporting the Niners have signed Kaepernick to a six-year extension worth as much as $126 million. Of that, a record $61 million is guaranteed.
“Colin’s hard work and dedication have played an integral role in the recent success of the 49ers organization,” said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke in a written statement. “His work ethic, leadership and on-field production have positively influenced our team, and we look forward to his continued growth in all areas.”
The contract makes Kaepernick one of the NFL’s top-10 paid quarterbacks.
Although he hasn’t won a Super Bowl yet, Kaepernick is a combined 21-8 as a starter in San Francisco and had led the team to three consecutive conference championship games.
