Hayward — A 75-year-old woman was killed Friday in a early morning house fire in Hayward.
The fire was reported around 1 a.m. at 24808 Townsend Ave.
Fire officials say the flames spread quickly and engulfed the entire home.
Fire Captain, Don Nicholson, says it was a difficult fire to access, because fire was coming outside the door and out of the windows.
Three people were inside at the time, a couple and the wife’s elderly aunt. The couple made it out ok, but the aunt, who was in a wheelchair, was killed.
The man was transported to a hospital for chest pains while the woman did not suffer any injuries.
Two cats and two birds also died in the fire.
Fire crews believe a possible electrical issue is to blame.
