SANTA CLARA CO. (BCN) — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of three San Jose residents Thursday for charges including possession of narcotics, stolen weapons and for cultivation of over 800 illegal marijuana plants in Mountain View, police said.
At about 3 p.m. on Thursday, a multi-agency law enforcement group simultaneously executed three search warrants in Mountain View and San Jose based on information developed through an anonymous tip, police said.
The agencies that helped investigate and execute the warrants include the Mountain View Police Department, Mountain View’s Crimes Against Persons, Gang Suppression Unit and Youth Services Units, Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team, Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Milpitas Police Department and San Jose Police Department’s Bomb Unit.
Following an investigation into the information provided by the tip, search warrants were attained and executed at a commercial warehouse in Mountain View and two San Jose residences, police said.
At the Mountain View warehouse located in the 1100 block of Independence Avenue, the search of the property uncovered over 800 marijuana plants, with an estimated street value of over $500,000, police said.
A search warrant executed at a residence in the 3100 block of Kirk Avenue in San Jose netted over 30 pounds of dried and packed marijuana.
Officers also found over $10,000 in U.S. currency and a honey oil lab, which produces a concentrated form of marijuana, according to police.
Police said honey oil labs can be a very dangerous environment due to the hazardous process of extracting THC.
Several firearms were also seized at the home, including one reported stolen from a home in Mountain View in 2010, police said.
Officers said a toddler, who was in the temporary care of the adults, was present in the home at the time of the search. The toddler was taken into protective custody.
During a search of a residence in the 1200 block of Branham Lane, also in San Jose, detectives discovered methamphetamine and illegal weapons, including two that were reported stolen, police said.
Officers also found two stun grenades in the residence. The San Jose Police Department’s Bomb Unit was called in as a precaution, police said.
Police arrested San Jose residents Semir Metovic, 33, Tito Hernandez, 32, and Abby Rose, 29, during the execution of the search warrants in San Jose.
The two men and the woman were booked for a range of charges including possession of marijuana, altering or removing a serial number on a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a destructive device and a high-capacity magazine, possession of stolen
property, manufacturing a controlled substance and for felony child endangerment, according to police.
