COTATI (BCN) — Three Cotati residents were arrested Thursday on suspicion of pimping a 16-year-old girl in California, Arizona and Oregon over the past three months.
The investigation began on June 11 when the girl and her mother informed police about the alleged human trafficking, Cotati Police Chief Michael Parish said.
The girl said the suspects kept the money from the human trafficking and that she had sex multiple times with one of the suspects, 38-year-old Abdelaziz Jamal Thomas, Parish said.
Cotati police and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office searched the suspects’ Charles Street residence on Thursday and arrested Abdelaziz Thomas and 19-year-old April Dominique-Nysha Thomas, Parish said.
A third suspect, Arthur Thomas, 20, was arrested in the Sonoma County jail where he was being held on other charges, Parish said.
All three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court.
Abdelaziz Thomas was booked into the county jail in lieu of $300,000 bail on charges of human trafficking, pimping sodomy with a minor, threatening a crime against a family resident of household member and sex with a victim more than three years younger.
The two other suspects were booked on human trafficking and pimping charges and are being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Cotati police, the sheriff’s office detectives and specially trained interviewers from the Redwood Children’s Center conducted the investigation, Parish said.
