ALAMEDA COUNTY (KRON) — One person is dead following a plane crash near Livermore Saturday evening, according to an Alameda County Fire official.
The plane crashed just off of North Livermore Road, about a half mile north of Interstate 580 around 5 pm Saturday.
The official says the plane sparked a small vegetation fire, that has spread to 1 and a 1/2 acres.
According to Allen Kenitzer of the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane, an experimental Loehle Mustang, crashed in a field two to three miles northeast of Livermore shortly after departing the airport.
Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft.
The names of the crash victims have not been released.
