BLUFFDALE, Utah (KRON) — Warning, illegal spying below.
That’s the warning coming from a blimp flying over a National Security Agency data center in Utah.
San Francisco-based Electronic Frontiers Foundation along with groups like Greenpeace sponsored the blimp which the groups hope will highlight the growing debate over domestic surveillance.
“The public needs to be brought into the Congressional debate around surveillance reform happening right now,” EFF Activism Director Rainey Reitman said in a written statement. “We’re flying an airship over the Utah data center, which has come to symbolize the NSA’s collect-it-all approach to surveillance, and demanding an end to the mass spying. It’s time for bold action in defense of our privacy.”
EFF is representing Greenpeace and the other groups in a lawsuit against the NSA over the collection of phone call data.
