Containment has has improved to 45 percent despite difficult conditions and rugged terrain.

All evacuation orders have been lifted and the evacuation shelter at Middletown High School has closed, according to fire officials.

Officials say that nine structures have been destroyed in the blaze, including two residences, and hundreds more homes are threatened.

There have been no reported injuries.

A road closure remains in effect two miles west of the Lake County line on Guenoc Road and Butts Canyon Road.

The blaze is not threatening any major vineyards or so says Daniel Berlant Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Dry terrain and high temperatures continue to be a challenge for firefighters, and similar conditions are expected through Thursday.

About 200 homes are part of the mandatory evacuations that remain in effect from the west side of the 7800 block of Butts Canyon Rd to north of Snell Valley Rd including the Berryessa Estates.
