OAKLAND (KRON) — More firefighters from other parts of the Bay Area are heading to the North Bay Wildfires Thursday morning.
22 members of the Alameda County Strike Team are headed to the fire burning in Napa and Lake Counties. Alameda County, Hayward, Fremont, Oakland, and Livermore/Pleasanton firefighters make up the team.
“What I’m expecting is to get an assignment to either assist them with containment of the fire or mop up of the fire,” strike team leader and Alameda County Battalion Chief Ronnie Oatis tells KRON 4’s Mike Pelton.
Strike team members say they’re ready to move with little notice.
“Other than the military, nobody moves resources and personnel up and down the state of California like Bay Area firefighters,” Oatis says. “We do it frequently every year. We go as far north as the Oregon border and as far south as the California-Mexican border.”
