Shoplifting Suspect Crashes Into Car, Sends One To Hospital

PITTSBURG (BCN) — An alleged shoplifter who crashed into another car in Pittsburg is in custody this afternoon and a person inside the second car is in the hospital, a police captain said.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. after a suspect who allegedly stole from the Home Depot at 2300 North Park Blvd. drove away from the store, Pittsburg police Capt. Ron Raman said.

People in the area flagged down a police officer, but by the time the officer found the suspect vehicle, it had collided with a car near the intersection of Century Boulevard and Century Way, Raman said.

The driver of the suspect vehicle ran from the scene and was apprehended a short time later, Raman said.

He said an occupant from the second car was taken to a hospital but said he did not know the extent of the person’s injuries.
