MARIN CITY (KRON) — Marin County sheriff’s deputies are trying to determine what a man in his 30’s who was shot late Sunday night was doing in the Marin City area.
A Sausalito police officer and several neighbors reported hearing a barrage of gunfire just minutes before midnight. A nearby deputy sheriff says he found the victim at Cole and Drake in Marin City.
Investigators say it appears the victim was able to walk more than a block from that location to the area of St. Andrew’s Church where he collapse.
Deputies say the man suffered a number of gunshot wounds to the head and face. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition but Lt. Doug Pittman says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Detectives are now looking for potential witnesses. Although they are not identifying the victim, investigators say he is not a resident of Marin City but is known to people in the area.
