BOSTON (KRON) — Fans of the Boston Red Sox are never happy when an opposing player hits the ball out of the park but for one visitor to Fenway Park, a dinger Monday hurt just a little bit more.
Former San Francisco Giant Melky Cabrera, who now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays, stepped up to the plate in Boston Monday night and hit a pitch over the famous Green Monster. The ball kept traveling until it smashed into the windshield of a white SUV in a parking lot across the street.
The three-run homer contributed a third of the nine runs the Blue Jays scored in the sixth inning powering Toronto to a 14-1 victory. The win leaves the Red Sox in last place in the A.L. East, eight and a half games behind Toronto and eleven games back of first place Baltimore.
Experts say since a home run is not considered an “Act of God” the driver should be able to get his or her car insurance to cover the damage.
