VIDEO: Pedestrian, Others Seriously Hurt as Car Fleeing Police Crashes onto S.F. Sidewalk

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A pedestrian remains in the hospital Tuesday morning after the driver of an allegedly-stolen car tries to flee from police, hits a taxi cab, and skids onto the sidewalk.

Police say that six people were hurt during the sequence of events near Union Square.

The accident happened at about 10:20 Monday evening. San Francisco police say an officer tried to pull a car over at Larkin and Post when the driver sped away.

Two blocks away officers say the car hit a taxicab at Post and Jones. The impact of that collision sent the two vehicles onto the sidewalk where two men were injured, a bicyclist and a pedestrian.

The bicyclist, a 29-year-old man, suffered a life-threatening head injury, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza
said. The 60-year-old pedestrian’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say the car’s driver, Anthony Wisner, 26, then ran away and got on a 38-Geary bus. That’s where police say they caught up with him and took him into custody.

Bicyclist is still hospitalized with life threatening injuries.

Wisner’s female passenger, an unidentified 38-year-old woman, was trapped inside the van after the crash. She was extricated and also taken to the hospital, Esparza said.
