MARTINEZ (KRON) — Fire crews have knocked down a huge fire on Monday at the site of the former ferry terminal in downtown Martinez.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at the wooden dock at about 11 p.m. on Sunday night. The pier was once used for boarding and disembarking the ferry service vessels.
It took several hours for crews to extinguish the fire due to a burning structure at the end of the pier. Many of the docking planks were damaged in the fire and crews had difficulty reaching the structure.
There were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
