CASTILE, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they’ve arrested a 57-year-old western New York man on animal cruelty charges after he fatally shot three cats that had been left with him by their owner.
Troopers say the cats’ had been left with Roland Reinisch of Perry for safekeeping while the owner was away. Police say he deliberately shot the three cats, then buried them in two separate locations in the Wyoming County village of Castile (KAS’-teyl), 45 miles southwest of Rochester.
Troopers arrested Reinisch last Tuesday and charged him with three misdemeanor counts of torturing or injuring animals. He was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges in the Castile Village Court at a later date.
It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
