OAKLAND (KRON) — It’s now official, the Oakland A’s are staying at the Coliseum.
The County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a deal on a ten-year contract for the team.
This was the final step in approving the agreement which had already passed votes in the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
The contract includes several outs. The A’s can leave after the 2018 season but would still have to pay rent if the team moved out of Oakland. The Athletics could also be forced out of the Coliseum in case of a deal to build a football-only stadium for the Raiders on the site.
The A’s now have the best record in baseball.
