SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — There’s growing reaction on social media to radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s controversial remarks about the death of actor and comedian Robin Williams.
On his show Tuesday, Limbaugh said Williams’ apparent suicide is a result of what the talk host called a “leftist world view.”
“What is the left’s world view in general?” Limbaugh asked. “If you had to attach, not a philosophy, but an attitude to a leftist world view. It’s one of pessimism, and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy, are they?”
Limbaugh chronicled reports of Williams’ financial troubles and said that and the actor/comedian’s political philosopies contributed to his depression.
“They’re (leftists) animated in large part by the false promises of America because the promises of America are not for everyone,” Limbaugh said.
The talk host also referred to reports that Williams was depressed because several friends including actor Christopher Reeve died early while he lived into his 60’s.
“Well, that is a constant measurement that is made by political leftists in judging the country.”
The comments continue to draw sharp responses on social media.
