Thursday was the first day state police had taken over security from the Ferguson police department.

Johnson passed on answering questions from reporters and instead fielded inquiries from local citizens who he had invited to participate in the event.

The captain says he understand that people are angry but “we have to make sure we don’t burn down our own house.”

Johnson says he will talk later Friday with Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson about the investigation and then report to protesters at the Quik-Trip which looters ransacked earlier in the week.
