BURBANK (KRON) — A medical marijuana activist and journalist is taking the high road when it comes to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
In a video that has gone viral, a writer for the Burbank-based web site The 420 Times says he’s been called out for the challenge in which celebrities and ordinary people pour a bucket of ice water over themselves to raise funds and awareness of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The writer, Ian Stuart, says he’s not going to call anyone else out but says “I will outdo you, here’s the Ice Bong Challenge.”
Stuart then appears to smoke marijuana through a glass water pipe then proceeds to dump the ice water from the device over his own head.
The video has more than 75,000 views on YouTube and continues to trend on Reddit.
The actual Ice Bucket Challenge has raised nearly $23 million for research into the deadly disease.
