SANTA CLARA (KRON) — The new sod is now going in to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Trucks brought the new turf overnight Thursday into Friday and by Friday morning images from our helicopter partner at Sky7HD/ABC7News showed grounds workers putting the new grass into place.
Coach Jim Harbaugh pulled players off the field after several slipped and fell during Wednesday’s public practice session. That prompted grounds crews to remove 100-yards of sod and truck new grass in.

Officials say the first game played at Levi’s Field caused unexpected damage to the sod.
The Niners say everything will be ready for Sunday’s pre-season game against the Chargers.
It’s unclear who will pay for the last-minute changes at the stadium.
