SAN JOSE (KRON) — The same San Jose PG&E substation that snipers attacked a couple of years ago is now the target of thieves.
PG&E says it’s working with local law enforcement to try to find the person or people who stole construction equipment recently from the Metcalf Substation south of San Jose in Santa Clara County.
Authorities hope someone will tell what they know about the theft which apparently happened when PG&E crews forgot to set the alarms on the electric fence protecting the facility.
This is the same substation where snipers took out part of the facility in April of 2013. That’s prompted PG&E to launch a $100 million effort to upgrade security at the substations.
Officials say this latest threat didn’t disrupt electric service to anyone.
