LAS VEGAS (KRON) — A couple from New Hampshire won more than $2 million on a slot machine that hadn’t paid out in 20 years.
Last Friday night, Walter and Linda Misco, of Chester, N.H., hit the jackpot after playing for only 5 minutes.
“I walked her over here to show her the machine,” Walter said. “She didn’t actually have any idea until she looked at the machine, and, I can’t tell you the exact words that she used but it began with ‘holy’.”
Walter, a retired horse farmer, told The Las Vegas Sun that he would use the money to pay his children’s and grandchildren’s college tuition. The most he’s ever won in Las Vegas was $8,000 playing video poker.
“MGM Grand is delighted to award this historic jackpot to the lucky winner of the ‘Lion’s Share,’ and we couldn’t be happier for the winners and their family and friends,” said Scott Sibella, president and COO of MGM Grand, said in a statement Saturday.
Casino officials said they are planning to retire the machine, which is their last progressive slot machine, and give it to the couple.
