PALO ALTO — Palo Alto police are looking for a man who allegedly groped a woman on Thursday while the two were looking through discarded items in the rear of a building near a Caltrain station, police said.
At 12:44 p.m. Thursday, Palo Alto police’s dispatch center received a call from a woman reporting a sexual battery in the 2300 block of Park Boulevard, a couple blocks from the California Avenue Caltrain station, according to police Lt. Zach Perron.
The woman, who is in her 60s, said that she had been talking to the suspect as they both examined things that had been discarded behind a commercial building when he suddenly grabbed her breast over her clothing, Perron said.
The victim then went to tell her husband about it but the suspect, whom she recognized from seeing him before in town, had left the area, police said.
The woman described the suspect as an Asian male in his 60s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, wearing gray slacks. She said he had seen him previously driving a dark-colored sedan, according to Perron.
Police said the case is not connected to three other recent sexual battery cases nearby, including incidents reported on July 11 and July 22 for which a suspect was arrested on July 31, and a case in the College Terrace area reported August 7 that is still under investigation, Perron said.
