VIDEO: Man Robs Check into Cash Store in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery at a Check Into Cash store late this morning.

Officers responded to a report of a hold-up alarm at the business at 1819 N. Texas St. around 11:10 a.m., police said.

Arriving officers learned the suspect had robbed the store and fled before the alarm was activated, according to police.

Two clerks working at the business entered with a handgun and demanded for money, police said.

At one point, the suspect held the gun to the head of one of the clerks, according to police.

Both clerks handed over the money to the suspect, who then fled in an unknown direction, and waited a short time to make sure they were safe before activating the alarm, police said.

Officers searched the area for the suspect without success.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavy build, short dark hair and distinctive gap between his front teeth.

He was wearing a black pinstriped suit with a red vest, sunglasses, black gloves and carried a briefcase at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Fairfield police.
