UPDATE: St. Helena Schools Lockdown Lifted After Jewelry Store Robbery

ST. HELENA (KRON) — Saint Helena police have recovered a brown Dodge van that was abandoned by two men suspected of robbing a jewelry store this morning, a police lieutenant said.

All schools were placed on lockdown in the St. Helena Unified School District while police conduct a manhunt for possible gunmen.

Authorities confirm there is an active search for two people suspected in the robbery at David’s Jewelers at 1343 Main St. this morning at about 11:14 a.m. Witnesses say the pair may be armed.

They ordered the store owner and an employee to get down on to the floor and smashed display cases. The robbers fled with 20-25 Rolex watches.

St. Helena Unified administrators decided to impose a lockdown on all campuses while the manhunt is underway. All students and staff members are safe, officials say.

Sheriff’s officials describe the suspects as black males wearing black clothing, about 20 to 30 years old, and were last seen on foot at Main and Pine streets.
