ALAMEDA (KRON) — Former Miami Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano will take over the Oakland Raiders for the rest of the season.
The Raiders have issued a news release announcing Sparano as the Interim Head Coach later Tuesday.
“Tony Sparano has a strong presence in this organization,” Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie said in a written statement. “His experience and leadership qualities will serve the team well in helping reach the goal of everyone here, which is to win football games.”
Monday the team informed Coach Dennis Allen of his termination in a phone call after the Raiders started the season at 0-4. He was 8-28 during his time with the Raiders.
