VALLEJO — A two-alarm fire damaged both units of a duplex, displaced three people and killed a cat Wednesday morning, a Vallejo Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire was reported at 8:30 a.m. in one unit of the duplex on Gleason Avenue at the intersection of 12th Street, department spokesman Mark Libby said.
That unit was occupied by an apparent hoarder who was not home at the time, but firefighters found the cat in the back room, Libby said.
An electrical problem is suspected of causing the fire, which also damaged the other unit of the duplex. Two residents in that unit, who also were not home at the time, were displaced, fire Capt. Dave Urrutia said.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes, Urrutia said.
