Soaring Temperatures and Gusty Winds Roar into the Bay Area

WALNUT CREEK (KRON) — High wind warnings are up in the Diablo Valley with gusts expected above 45 miles per hour before the day is out.

KRON 4’s James Fletcher says gusts on and around Mt. Diablo combined with warm temperatures will increase fire dangers in area near Walnut Creek and Concord.

In the Oakland Hills, firefighters are urging residents to create defensible space around their homes to prevent damage from wildfires. Calfire officials say despite unseasonably cool conditions in recent weeks, they’ve remained fully staffed in anticipation of October fire dangers.

The late season heat wave will be felt in particular in the East Bay where temperatures will soar into the mid-90’s by the end of the week.
