DALLAS (KRON) — The Mayor of Dallas is promising to make sure the dog of an Ebola-infected hospital worker is kept safe.
Mayor Mike Rawlings tells USA today the dog remained in the health care worker’s apartment over the weekened. The animal will soon be sent to the SPCA to care for it until its owner is well enough to return home.
There are no plans to euthanize the dog, the mayor says. Researchers say there is evidence dogs can carry the Ebola virus.
The announcement follows the Spanish government’s decision to kill Excalibur, the dog of a nursing assistant there treated for Ebola.
