MARTINEZ (KRON) — A retired Walnut Creek police officer will get a year for attacking a woman with a baseball bat.
54-year old Gregory Thomas testified he thought the woman was trying to break into his father’s vacant home in Richmond when he attacked her with the bat.
The victim had run out of gas and was walking in the neighborhood looking for help. She says Thomas was wearing a mask when he attacked her and her car with a baseball bat.
Thompson, who retired from Walnut Creek police shortly after the attack, pleaded no contest to assault, vandalism, and weapons charges.
He can spend six months of his sentence in home confinement and may get credit for the other six months.
