SAN FRANCISCO — An attempted robbery suspect was taken to a hospital after being shot by an off-duty police officer in San Francisco’s Lower Nob Hill neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Police say the shooting happened at Bush and Leavenworth Street after the robbery suspect confronted the officer.
According to a neighbor who lives near the scene of the shooting, the incident happened around 6 a.m. near Another Cafe.
Police Chief Greg Suhr says the suspect bit the police officer and shots went off during a struggle. It’s unknown if the suspect or the officer fired the gun.
The suspect was shot in the upper body and taken to the hospital.
