SAN JOSE (KRON) — A Safeway has been red tagged in East San Jose after a portion of the roof collapsed during Thursdays storm.
Firefighters received a call at 3:57 p.m. reporting that the ceiling had fallen at the Safeway supermarket located at 1771 E. Capitol Expressway.
According to fire officials, one person was treated for minor injuries and did not require transportation Firefighters said everyone else made out of the store safely.
Employees in a Safeway supermarket in East San Jose were able to get everyone out of the building before a large section of roof collapsed, fire officials said.
Safeway employee Adam Aguioal told KRON 4 that he heard a “big crash and water started to pour into the store.”
Fire officials said that store employees heard some creaking noises in the building and told people to get out. The roof caved in a short time later.
