Update: School Lockdowns Lifted as Suspected San Jose Shooter Escapes

SAN JOSE (KRON) — Lockdowns at three San Jose schools are now lifted after police failed to find a shooting suspect.

Authorities lifted the shelter-in-place orders at Blackford Elementary School, Valley Christian Elementary and Del Mar High School just before noon.

The alert went out after a shooting at about 5:00 a.m. on the Southwest Expressway at De Rose Way. A victim was shot in the arm and is expected to survive.

Police officers set up a perimeter to try to catch the man described as 6-feet tall or a bit taller, wearing dark clothes. While searching the area, officers found someone matching the description. He ran off in the direction of the schools prompting the lockdowns.

Although the suspected shooter was not caught, police say it appears he got away. No one at any of the schools was hurt.
