FREMONT — A man killed in a car crash in Fremont on Tuesday night has been identified by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau today as 45-year-old Patrick West.

Officers responded to a report of a solo car crash in the area of Fremont Boulevard and Thornton Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday, Fremont police said.

Officers arrived to find a van near the center median on Fremont Boulevard, north of Thornton Avenue, with the driver suffering from
life-threatening injuries, police said.

West, a Fremont resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the van was traveling northbound on Fremont Boulevard where it crashed into a tree in the center median, police said.

Alcohol may be a factor in the crash, according to police.
