Wind Advisory In Effect For 4 Bay Area Bridges

Wind advisories are in effect this morning on four Bay Area bridges, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Advisories are in effect until further notice on the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, San Mateo Bridge and Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, said CHP officer Peter Van Eckhardt.

Van Eckhardt said the highway patrol issues wind advisories when patrol officers report that winds are causing their vehicles to shift.

The CHP is encouraging drivers to keep both hands on the wheel as they cross the bridges, “just for safety’s sake,” Van Eckhardt said.

“It’s like when you’re passing a big-rig,” he said.
