FOSTER CITY (KRON) — It appears the “mystery gunk” attacking birds in the Bay Area is spreading to the Peninsula.
Wildlife Emergency Services workers say they have discovered more birds impacted by the mystery substance in the Foster City area. Volunteers are out checking spots along the shoreline between Foster City and Coyote Point looking for more injured birds.
More search efforts are planned along the Peninsula following the discoveries.
This appears to be the same substance that has injured 242 birds along the East Bay shoreline between Alameda and San Leandro harbor.
KRON 4’s Will Tran reported on the issue just an hour or so before the new discoveries were announced.
